It's no secret that The Amazing Spider-Man's villain Dr. Curt Connors aka The Lizard will be returning in some form in Spider-Man: No Way Home (we won't be posting any spoilers here), but Rhys Ifans, who played the character in the first Andrew Garfield movie and is currently promoting his new movie The King's Men, was recently asked by Inverse what makes the character so special.
"Spider Man's a great adversary to the Lizard because they're both based on creepy crawlies. Spider-Man is so deft and slight and small and nimble, and the Lizard is this hulking ball of rage. That's why they were put together in the first place, because they're a good and interesting match."
The actor, who is perhaps best known for his role in Notting Hill, was then asked if he were to return as the character, which character would he like to face next. His King's Men co-star Djimon Hounsou (himself no stranger to Marvel after appearing in Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain Marvel and What If...?) suggested the possibility of a Lizard vs. Venom face off.
"Yeah, Venom and the Lizard, I mean, that would be messy. Yeah." replied Ifans.
Of course, this is by no means any sign of things to come in the Marvel Multiverse, but it's always fun to speculator or fan-cast.
