Just hours after Amy Pascal seemingly backtracked on her previous comments about Tom Holland appearing in another trilogy post-No Way Home, Sony CEO Tom Rothman has now weighed in on what the future might hold for Tom Holland's Peter Parker.
While he doesn't say anything about a potential sequel trilogy, Rothman has opened up about the deal Sony Pictures currently have with Marvel Studios and how Spider-Man could return in the MCU. There have been rumblings that Spider-Man is scheduled to appear in a separate MCU film as part of their renewed deal and whilst talking to comicbook.com, Rothman said the following:
"It's reciprocal. So, we lend one, and they lend one, and that's how [Benedict Cumberbatch] is in this movie. So, we have one more 'lend-back' that's committed. But the thing that I can say [...] is that the two companies have a terrific working relationship. And I think it's a mutual hope that that would continue. But there really isn't anything definitive at this moment, because the truth of the matter is, we gotta ride [No Way Home] and see what happens."
So whilst it's not a certainty, it sounds like we can expect him in at least one movie before a new trilogy begins (Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is a safe bet).
Be sure to check back here for the latest news as this story unfolds, we would imagine it won't be too long until we know if and when Spider-Man will return after Spider-Man: No Way Home.
