Those of you who were looking forward to the theatrical release of Morbius, starring Jared Leto, later this month are unfortunately going to have to wait a little longer.
In news that shouldn't surprise anyone, Morbius has been delayed by Sony Pictures due to the rise of the Omicron variant of COVID-19. The film now currently has a release date of April 1, 2022. Hopefully, it'll be the final time the film will have to move it's release date, considering the third entry of Sony's Spider-Man Universe was originally due for release on July 20th, 2020.
This news doesn't bode well for the likes of The Batman and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, as this could be the start of a domino effect, with many films seeing more delays going forward.
On the plus side, at the the time of writing, it's only Morbius that seems to be affected for now as Sony's other big winter release, Uncharted, starring Spider-Man himself Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, is sticking with it's February release date for the time being. We'll keep you updated as soon as we know about any more delays.
