Though not without its moments, it's fair to say that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was underwhelming in the eyes of many critics and fans. Unfortunately, a big part of that had to do with the disappointing portrayal of Electro by Jamie Foxx. Fortunately, Foxx was offered a chance at redemption Spider-Man: No Way Home, and boy did he smash it!
The Academy Award-winning actor recently spoke with marvel.com about the look and feel of the character, saying "The [biggest] thing that changed is that he acknowledged the way he looked," before continuing "He acknowledged, ‘Oh, I like this, I dig this.’ By doing that, it answers any questions like why or what's this thing? Being able to do that, and just bringing a little of the way I wanted to talk and how I wanted to present myself, [Electro] has a little hipness to him."
Jamie Foxx also spoke about sharing the screen with the likes of Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Willem Dafoe, Alfred Molina as well as returning Spider-Men, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. "Just looking to my right, and looking to my left, the people that were onset, and going, ‘Wow, It's a moment.’ It transcends art right now. I remember saying, ‘When you walk out sir, there will be cheers and tears.’"
If recent rumours (originating from Murphy's Multiverse) are correct, we may well see Jamie Foxx return as Max Dillon yet again, as some reports are saying Sony Pictures might want to bring him back for a solo movie. It's probably best to take that with a giant handful of salt though.
